Description
Indications
- For the management of:
- Renal tubular acidosis (RTA) with calcium stones
- Hypocitraturic calcium oxalate nephrolithiasis of any etiology
- Uric acid lithiasis with or without calcium stones
Dosage and Administration
- Mild to Moderate Hypocitraturia (urinary citrate >150 mg/day)
- Initial: 15mEq 2 times daily or 10mEq 3 times daily.
- Severe Hypocitraturia (urinary citrate <150 mg/day)
- Initial: 30mEq 2 times daily or 20mEq 3 times daily.
- Maximum dose: 100mEq/day.
- Administer with food. Take 30 min after meal. Swallow whole, do not open, chew or crush.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation. Refer to manufacturer labeling for further details.
Common side-effects
- Abdominal discomfort, Hyperkalemia
